Patient Advisor
Job Title: Patient Advisor
Terms: 1 vacancy x 37.5 hours a week
Hourly Pay: £11.50 starting dependant on experience to be moved to £12 after probation.
Overview:
The successful applicant will be joining a well-established, strong, supportive reception/admin team, which is supported by a wonderful practice management team as well as GP partners. The practice is ideally seeking someone with previous work experience within a GP practice who is a good communicator and able to provide an excellent level of customer service to patients.
Job responsibilities include:
- Greeting and directing patients / visitors
- Ability to handle enquiries effectively and efficiently
- Ability to work under extreme pressure
- Ensure patients with appointments who need urgent consultations are dealt with appropriately
- To make, cancel or change appointments as required
- Preparing consulting rooms prior to surgery opening and tidying rooms at the end of surgery closing
- Reliable, efficient, and flexible
- Health and safety awareness (e.g. handling samples)
- General housekeeping e.g. keeping waiting and reception areas tidy
- Awareness and monitoring of patient flow in waiting rooms
- Prioritise workload
- Experience of working in a GP practice and the use of EMIS/Accurx is very desirable
- An awareness of other staff’s responsibilities and showing a willingness to provide support
- Deal with confidential correspondence, both internal and external
- Collecting and receipting monies for non-NHS services
- Opening/closing of the surgery
- Explain the registration process to new and temporary patients and complete registration paperwork
- Process patients change of address (have knowledge of practice boundaries)
- Attend training as necessary
- Report accident and complaints according to agreed procedures
- Be able to cover all reception duties as necessary, sometimes at short notice
- Holiday and sickness cover for colleagues
- Any other tasks allocated by managers, partners and senior admin assistant
Schedule:
- up to 7.5 hours per day
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Occasional weekends
Experience:
- Worked in an Administrative/Reception role for at least one year.
- Experience with EMIS and Accurx
